The Shire of Castlemere is a chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism, located in Jacksonville, Florida.
The Society for Creative Anachronism (or SCA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to recreating the ambiance of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. We attempt to do this by researching and practicing such topics of interest as fighting, calligraphy and illumination, fencing, sewing, music, archery, armor making, cooking, needlework, weaving, feasting, dancing, brewing, heraldry, leather crafts, woodwork and more.
The SCA "period" is defined to be Western civilization before 1600 AD, concentrating on the Western European High Middle Ages.
